Hi Ewald
Prior to Tall Oaks, Hiram co-founded Whetstone Partners in 1996, a practice devoted to the business development of seed and early stage life science technologies, many of which originated from regional universities. During the same period, he also co-managed Platform Technologies Holdings, a small LLC that made investments in three medical device companies, including Smart Pill Diagnostics, and Minrad International (AMEX: BUF).
In late 1991, Hiram became interim President of Insmed Pharmaceuticals, Inc., now Insmed Inc. (NASDAQ: INSM). He continued in many roles as an Officer and Director until 1997, and led several angel rounds of investment and a venture capital financing in 1996. Insmed is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of drug candidates for the treatment of metabolic diseases and endocrine disorders with unmet medical needs.
Hiram is on the board of ProVox and has portfolio
responsibility for GetWellNetworks. He also serves as Director of Spinner
Technologies, a for-profit commercialization arm of The University of Virginia
Patents Foundation, and was a founding Director of the Virginia
Piedmont Technology Council. He is a member of the Board of the Boys & Girls Club of
